Henry, I can't say it's not significant. Just can't say if it will really mean buying in the future. I could be short and selling puts against my short position. I could be short but have purchased out of the money calls. And there are other companies that hold shares that may follow Genetechs concept of creating riskless collars. Not really Genentechs concept but good clear explanation in their annual report.

So, while anyone can choose to read something into these positions I am only saying that it has become very difficult to be correct.

I usually report the short position for one stock I follow but only as a means of keeping this data from being misrepresented as meaningful when it is not, due to conversion providing a means of covering rather than buying.
