Michael, **O/T** skiing in NZ.

There is enough powder in the NZ ski fields. True, lift capacity is lacking, but the crowds aren't there (yet). Certainly chalk and cheese compared to the Oz ski fields, where I learnt to ski on rock and ice (does wonders to your skis!).

My definition of an optimist : An Australian ski resort operator.
There is plenty of powder in the Australian alps, incidentally, but most of it is not accessible to commercial skiers, although I have heard you can join organised 3-4 day lang-lauf tours.

Best,
Steve
