I think part of the reason is that Prog is still undiscovered. A headline like, "Programmer's Paradise does (does not:-)) compete with EGGS, AMZN, etc" will make the stock go up. There was a great story about a stock called the PinkMonkey.com a few days ago at Briefing.com.

Anyway, the other reason is that Prog still does a lot of mail order catalog business, and that they do business with / in Europe. THis is good because there is little competition there, as far as I know, but also bad because Europe is a little bit behind in technology compared to the US. Although not by much. So there's less growth potential.

I hope that now that PROG added Solaris software to their catalog they'll become better known though.

Finally it seems that PROG disappointed a few people with the earnings a while back and they still remeber it.

Oh and I think EGGS sells to consumers, i.e. average people, while prog targets developers/programmers so they don't really compete as much.

I am waiting to pick some more PROG up at around 8 3/4
