I don't know the ins and outs of embedded chips in a treatment plant but I'd suspect that they might work something like: If it's Saturday, everybody's doing their laundry so kick in the two extra motors and open the extra gate valves. Just a guess. Sounds like something that could be manually overridden, at the simplest level. ...Tim
