Seems like the small package shipping industry should thrive due to e-commerce.

Any comments on this theory?

Fedex is in an industry where capacity is not easily added I think.
Even now have heard that production of certain types of trucks is booked entirely for 1999. Also seems like would be tough to build a network like that of Fedex or UPS.

So as e-commerce increases small package shipments, all the players should benefit. Pricing power should be better because the companies would be operating closer to full capacity. Margins should increase because of better pricing power and economies of scale in terms of packages per employee hour and deliveries per area.

In this environment, Fedex may at be able to build and profit from a business to household delivery business.

Would be a nice scenario if it played out that way over the next decade.

Additionally, if/when Asia bounces back, seems like growth would accelerate there for Fedex.

Could be a great business to be involved with.

Any comments?

(Yes I am long :-)
