I decided to vote No. For me it is a question of fraying trust in the company. Period.

Do you recall it was just a couple of months ago when that odd phone poll was begun and then discontinued? IR, so it was said here at the time, at first claimed the reason was to investigate possible shorting or to prepare against year-end tax dumping, then the company up and claimed the whole thing was a mistake.

Well, the same outfit -- indeed, the very same voice -- who was doing that poll is now calling to see if the proxy statements arrived.

I rather think the first poll was a badly conceived stab at preparing for the proxy. I don't know for sure what Xoma's motives for a change of corporate residence may be, but I'm not impressed with the speculations about taxes -- even if true, it isn't all that impressive an advantage for the corporation's shareholders. It may be worth it to the corporation execs, but so what? I am more concerned by what I see as a search to flop in the shade of the more forgiving corporate liability laws of British Commonwealth members.
