What effect did the recent elections have on state attorneys participating the anti-trust suit. Did many incumbents who were against MSFT lose their post (I think Vaco lost in NY although I am not sure)?
If I lived in the USA and had most of my pension fund in index funds, I would have wanted anti trust case dropped. MSFT is the biggest holding in these funds. Watch other state attorneys drop out in a big way fearing that it is not in their best interest (politically) to continue this case. -- let someone else do it (ie DOJ). The voters can put a lot of pressure on these guys without ever voicing their opinion (just the threat of a lost vote is enough pressure).
