Nuts & Bolt is like NU, it is from Network Associates. It was installed after the system went buggy.
I tired Opera, and didn't really care for it. I have used Netscape almost since day one. Strangely, the system has stabilized. I changed the keyboard back to the original Dell cheapy. I am not sure if that could have made a difference or just coincidental.
I use a cable modem, but it did this before the cable mode, HOWEVER, the V.90 modem is still in the box, so the system still sees it.
I believe this is software related, one or two pieces of software are probably causing this problem, and I know once you uninstall it, the damage has already been done.
The closer I bring the system back to the *original* out of box state, the more stable it becomes. However, I am ditching my favorite software in the process.
I thought it may have been my CDR-W (HP 7200i) some people I have talked too said they has allot of issues with P2's and Surewriter 7200i.
Haven't checked for shared IRQ's, and don't have another Video card, will try that, but now it's hard to make the system go haywire, when it does, it's when you least expect it.
I will spend the 15 hours this weekend re-building the HD. (Not looking forward to it)
Thanks for the advice. |
