From what I understand, CdTe and GaAs have 2 completely different
applications. I believe that GaAs facilitates faster operating
speeds then Si, and while CdTe is actually slower than Si, CdTe
has qualities that make it suitable for optoelectronic applications.
An interesting question that I have concerns the evolution of technology- some equipment makers are starting to get into the GaAs
equip business because this is expected to be the next thing; if
CdTe is too far off (people still trying to figure out how to use it
and determine whether or not it is cost-efficient) does that mean
that GTSM's product line is almost reverse staggered and that the
GaAs products are more important then the CdTe? Opinions?
