This is silly, but here goes. I actually think "e-commerce" may cause more "liner-board" (or whatever it is) (i.e. cardboard) to be used. If I order things like Hewlett Packard ink jet cartridges from some Internet retailer who beats the price of local real retailers (even after shipping costs are figured in), then the e-commerce entity is going to waste more cardboard boxes shipping to me.
