I'm buying @HOME service through my local cable company TCI as it becomes available in my DFW TX area 12/30/98. $50 installation which includes the modem/ethernet card (which I have to give back when I drop the service - IF I ever do drop it)... and pay $39.99 a month for the service. that's it. 24hour tech support... avg download about 4MB per sec. They said average upload time about 256K sec. I can handle that. They said they offer cable TV separately and I opted to NOT get cable tv which would have been extra. So all in all, I'm going to pay just about twice what I'm paying for a 33.6k dialup ISP now. and get a billion million times faster connections. anyway, I didn't even know ATHM was "@HOME"... found this by accident thought I'd share that this is becoming a frenzy here in DFW. this weekend COMPUSA in Arlington had TCI out onsite to demonstrate and there were about 75people or more surrounding 2 or 3 salesman and practically NO ONE even cared to see the PCs or the modem.. we were all grabbing the software and the applications. no I don't own stock here... don't plan to... but you never know, maybe this might be one for my 401k.
