Company Press Release Unisys Wins Contract For Publishing Solutions From France's Le Telegramme de Brest BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 1998--Unisys Corp. Tuesday announced an agreement to provide the Unisys Publishing Solutions Hermes and WireCenter to Le Telegramme de Brest, one of the most important regional newspapers in France.
The solutions will enable 270 staffers to produce multiple editions of the daily newspaper.
Headquartered in Morlaix, in the western region of Brittany, Le Telegramme de Brest is one of the largest regional newspapers in France, with a total circulation of 225,000 copies, seven days a week. The newspaper produces 17 zoned editions daily and is newspaper of record for the region.
Based on client/server technology, the Unisys Publishing Solutions will provide Le Telegramme de Brest with a highly integrated and flexible publishing system that will give journalists, editors and production staff better control over the entire production process.
The system permits exceptional editorial flexibility, so print deadlines can be postponed to incorporate late-breaking news, enabling the paper to deliver timelier and more comprehensive news coverage. In addition, the solutions will improve the newspaper's capability to manage local stories, photos and graphics for multiple editions, including those zoned for specific parts of Brittany.
The terms of the contract call for the installation of version 4.0 of the Hermes publishing system, which uses an Oracle database, and WireCenter, the external communications management system. Both run centrally on two Sun E3500 servers.
''After a thorough search and assessment of Unisys and its competitors, we selected Unisys for its leading solutions, industry knowledge and company reliability. We especially stress the company's experience with large publishing installations in France, and the company's ability to deliver and maintain the system locally,'' said Bernard Chancerelle, Technical Director of Le Telegramme de Brest.
''Furthermore, we believe that Unisys is moving its solutions forward in the right direction in terms of technology and functionality.''
''We are proud and happy to be selected by one of the major regional publishing companies in France and to reinforce our success in the sector,'' commented Gerard Perrier, the Unisys Publishing Program Manager for France and Benelux.
''After La Provence and Le Courrier Picard, Le Telegramme de Brest is the third major French publisher to select Unisys in 1998. In the competition, our mature solution and our project implementation capabilities make the difference.''
