Keeping an eye on QCOM....

The first time they deliver on earnings expectations I'll be a believer. Until then my cash is in the networking outfits.

Tonight I spent a few hours in a local electronics store, Best Buy. It's a mini version of Tokyo's Akihabara district, a techies dream shopping center. The number of pieces of software for the internet in the store has grown dramatically. This particular section was the most crowded.

You know people have been trying to find good reasons to buy a PC's. First it was to pay the bills with, followed by "it'll help the kids get a better job." For some people like me, computer games were a tremendous appeal. A practical and entertaining use for a pc is the internet. The software never goes obselete. The stuff is constantly updated, and best of all it costs less per month than useless cable TV! This problem of internet log jams will continue to get serious press and mean serious profits for networking companies and their shareholders. Market drops have been nothing but buying opportunities.

While speculation has driven many tech stocks, especially software companies, the fundementals supporting the networking stocks is clear. The quality companies like CSCO and FORE should be purchased on declines.

Well enough babbling from the cold, wet, north.

Good Luck, Maurice!
