The Financial Post reports in its Tuesday edition that shares of Kookaburra
Resources soared again on Monday as news of a natural gas blowout in a
jointly held well in Bakersfield, California, continued to have the biggest
effect on the property's smallest stakeholders. Reporter Garry Marr says
that since initial reports of the blowout surfaced, Kookaburra shares have
declined in just one out of 10 sessions. The stock jumped 39 cents to close
at $2.32 on Monday and the stock has now risen more than 460 per cent since
closing at 41 cents on Nov. 23. CIBC Wood Gundy Securities analyst Peter
Linder says this could be a home run but it is largely the only thing the
juniors have going for them. Mr. Linder does not believe that figures will
be available for months but he says he is 95 per cent sure that it is a
major discovery, possibly as much as three trillion cubic feet. Dundee
Securities analyst Paul Beique says there are a lot of questions as to the
size of the reservoir but they will not be answered until a there is a
controlled well.
