Is TDFX dictating to gamers?

Or are they putting spin on their current core chip's lack of 32 bit color?

When Voodoo 1 came out 32 bit color would certainly have been a poor idea. Now we're seeing the evolution of that chipset into the Voodoo3 chip and crying foul that they haven't added it. But I don't think adding this feature is so easy. We'll have to wait for their true second generation (Voodoo Rampage, or Voodoo 4, whatever they decide to call it.)

We'll hear how great 32bit color is when they have it. :)

They tried to differentiate low end from high end and got bad press over Banshee's second-rung status (never mind that they were trying for second rung). Now they're falling back to the tried and true 3000/2000 split (Diamond's been doing it for years, and yes it's confusing. Maybe it's supposed to be. You get the review on the high end and the sale on the low.)
