port,

I naturally agree with you relative to alternative distribution strategies for insurance-related matters. The fat cats with expense ratios of 30% plus are dinosaurs and will be eaten by those who can do more for less.

I am in "alternative risk transfer" which gives the more sophisticated insurance buyer more options to transfer and manage risk themselves. For example, instead of paying a premium to an insuror to handle all of the risk of loss, you could take on part of the risk yourself and save $$$. There are many ways to manipulate cash.

Following this line of thinking, I feel that many insurance products are commodities and sophisticated buyers will look for the lowest priced items to purchase. Many of these items can/will be purchased via the 'net....like PAMC's HealthAxis.com and quotesmith.

Noting AOL's ability to "pull" clients in over their medium, I prefer HealthAxis.com over the long run versus quotesmith, all other variables aside.

(puff, puff)
