Extensive maritime use of GPS in close-quarters coastal waters is an issue. My understanding is that the GPS problem will arise (if one does arise) around August 19 due to the turn over in the week counting system with which the system was originally installed. On-board software and embedded chip concerns for the safe operation of vessels would come on 1/1.
