He concentrates on electronic scrap of all kinds. Current PCs are about 1/50th as economical as prior ones. However, gold is not the only "value" found in obscene quantities in PCs.
My book gives 6 full pages of specific items I've recovered appreciable amounts of gold and other valuable metals from. It is the only comprehensive list on this subject. Tis part of the reason why my manual is so valuable. An ancillary publication, PV #83 deals specifically with avionic scrap for example.
One of the most fascinating anecdotal pcs of evidence I've come across was a pair of old miners at a local show who scrapped out about 1 doz. older jet engine cowlings about a dozen years back. Took'em 10 days straight through, but both ole boys darn near retired on the proceeds.
Fun, eh?
For what its worth, the next time one looks at World Gold Council states or the annual Silver Institute report, check out the fluctuations in the "scrap/recovered metals" category...this is the category that bean counters tinker with to in-/decrease net supply deficits in both metals. Since it is largely unrecorded cash business (like the scrap yard game of brass/aluminum/#1copper, etc.), it is also the hardest category to nail down in-/decreases in supply furnished to the end users of said gold, silver,( plat, palladium, nickel, copper, etc.)
Not only is this a low entry cost biz that one doesn't have to 'borrow heavily' to fund entry into, one also doesn't have take lotsa space. Many folks I fund inquires from, do it from a workbench sized countertop in their basement or garage. Of course, when it gets to be too much fun and too profitable, then those folks enlarge their business. Another gent I know, started out moving into a very very fancy paid for in cash brand new custom built house, after pursuing PGM's recovery for only 2 years in his garage, while is car sat outside. (yes, he bought a new pair of BMW's as well if memory serves.)
Thanks for writing. O/49r
