Ross, I've done some research into the question and here's my take.... this once fine company will slowly spiral down to a new record low... by this time next year I expect serious activity vis a vis' a merger or beginning bankruptcy protection... things are too bleak.... although Apple has 1.8 billion in hard cash reserves they also have 1 B in debt... the 0.8 in remaining cash will be gone if things continue on the same path... Apples market share is now at 5% and shrinking... it will continue to shrink...Performa sales were weak, the public does not want the Performa...... it may be a fine piece of equipment, but the public perception now is that Apple is orphaning several of their equipment lines and who wants to be stuck with an orphaned machine with a discontinued line of peripherals? If the machines get orphaned and the peripherals get discontinued, tech support will also wither....No one I know who I recognize as a "techie" feels Apple will ever regain consumer acceptance... They had their time in the sun....as have many other American companies who flourished in their time....but, the sun is now setting on Apple and there isn't a thing that anyone can do.... now, I think what I've said here is virtually incontrovertible....if anyone wants to buck the clearest trend in corporate investing, let them put their money on Apple....they'll be whistling past the graveyard.....
