Compaq's Highly Integrated Platforms Bring Market Leadership With J.D. Edwards on Windows NT
Business Wire - December 08, 1998 12:26
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 1998--Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ) today announced that according to J.D. Edwards & Co., Compaq has achieved more than 70 percent market leadership among Windows NT-based server platforms running J.D. Edwards enterprise business software. Compaq attributed this overwhelming market share strength to its success in providing customers with industry leading servers that are tested and tuned with J.D. Edwards software and to continued programs that reinforce close partnership between the two companies. Recently J.D. Edwards announced record-breaking benchmark results for its OneWorld(tm) software running on a Compaq ProLiant 7000 server and Oracle Corp.'s 8.0.5 database. Also, Compaq recently opened an International Competence Center in Denver to provide engineering and sales support for characterizing J.D. Edwards software on Compaq systems.

Customer Benefit: "As evidenced by our OneWorld performance benchmarks and the opening of our J.D. Edwards International Competence Center in Denver, Compaq and J.D. Edwards are working closely together to help customers better plan, deploy, and manage their enterprise application environments," said Ed Wolyniec, Vice President of Business Application Solutions at Compaq. "Today's announcement by J.D. Edwards of its Idea To Action(tm) initiative will allow our joint enterprise customers to more easily and quickly react to changing market conditions."

J.D. Edwards enables Idea to Action with ActivEra(tm), a new product and technology suite that gives business and technology professionals the independence they need to anticipate and react to changing business conditions without being constrained by their enterprise information systems.
