"ATHM aside, the doubling of traffic every 100 days is the generally
accepted current traffic growth rate for the largest backbone ISP
entities."

So, Curtis, what you're saying is that the growth in "throughput" is attributed to the volume of aggregate traffic & not necessarily the speed with which an individual data communication may be delivered, correct?

To me what's important is true speed, or more precisely response time that is measured in seconds or portions thereof. Unfortunately, today we read mostly about throughput that is measured in K-baud or M-baud per sec. Driving a car on the freeway creates the sensation of speed, though traffic controllers & road designers are more concerned with the level of traffic volume. I believe the latter is precedent to the former. One cannot experience increased speed w/o an increase in volume capacity.

Is the traffic you refer to the doubling of data, or the doubling of capacity? If its volume of data, then we're in for more problems.
