brees, my original response on the dreaded "unit" topic, taken a bit out of its combative context:

I have not served in the military, though I respect both the institution and those who have served. Perhaps everybody here could state whether they've served or not, and whether they think that having served in the military should be a prerequisite for stating one's political views. My understanding is a lot of popular Republicans would have to shut up too, if that prerequisite held.

Vaughn responded directly to the message that came out of, so I assume at least he read it. Didn't deter him from moving on, of course. Ish, I also responded to directly at some point. For everybody else who considers the unit question meaningful, I will repeat some old questions:

Do you think only those who have served in the military should be allowed to vote, or discuss politics? Do you think only those in Congress who have served in the military should get to vote on military matters? Many countries are run by the military, we usually don't like to put ourselves in that class.
