GDER is dropping this morning. However, I am encouraged by my conversation with Pierre de Lanauze at the company. Pierre took the time to explain about the unique approach in more detail and why it overcomes the problems of the current finger print reading technology.

Take for instance the early success Identix/Indicator has had with providing finger-print reading devices to the California social security department for verification of welfare recipients. This requires recipients to have their fingers read before receiving benefits. The finger prints are stored in the departments computers. Coming off that success, they tried to sell it to the department of transportation for use with drivers licenses. That ended up creating a firestorm of opposition by people who did not want their identities irrevocably catalogued by the governement.

The delSecur system, working as the "public encryption key" does not require a central finger print repository or other non-revocable logging of identity.

It does this while being remarkably secure - about 2 to the 7,999th power. While finger print devices rely on analyzing the differences of "minutia" found in a persons' finger print, the delSecur system creates a image abstraction that resolves to 2 to the 7,999 bits of (8,000 pixels) information that serves as the "DelGram" encryption key.

This opens the markets for finger print verification (as opposed to traditional finger print reading) to vast markets.

Pierre said that delSecur was now entering the next phase of development in which interest is pouring in from many market sectors. They anticipate funded projects from several industry leaders including one of the Bell companies, Alcatel, and others. One of the more interesting applications is with the use of cellular phones to encrypt cellular transmissions "on the fly".
