I suppose you guys know about the Ultra3 SCSI

last year Seagate got the jump on Quantum
with the Ultra2 SCSI (80mb/s burst) HD's.

it seems Quantum's gonna be out the gate
first with Ultra3 SCSI (160mb/s burst) HD's

I'm not sure if Quantum's drives need to
be greater than 10,000 RPM to take full
advantage of this new interface. Since
Hitachi's 12,000 RPM drives are heat sink
encased, I assume these speeds are getting
to hot to handle otherwise. Most Windows'NT
users will tell you how much better it can
run on a SCSI based hard drive, and since
Window'2000 is basically NT.5.0, one might
assume that this hard drive evolution will
evolve beyond the server market, and into
the standard workstation market, and possibly
the Cadillac consumer market fairly rapidly.

just wanna make sure you all know of this,
as I did'nt have time to read this thread.
