David,
I am not "lashed to the mast of NRID" simply because I argue with you about NRI. That is hardly a fair statement. I like NRI and hope it succeeds, but I am not blind to its problems. I think that they are not as severe as some would think. I have faith, not blind faith. Further, I believe that an API, regardless of who publishes it will help the entire industry, even NRI. Don't forget that there is no evidence out there that HAAPI can not be incorporated into this. BAPI and HAAPI can be compatible (see my last post). Also, the press release says that combing APIs helps the industry... Finally, I/O and NRI were on the same footing before the announcement, so NRI could move up just as I/O did. But assuming that does not happen and HAAPI goes to hell: NRI gains no money through HAAPI, it was just meant to put the industry on a similar software footing, so that purchasers of biometrics would not have to "marry" the provider they bought a solution from. In sum, NRI is not equal to HAAPI. NRI is a software company that had HAAPI as a component. The software CAN be re-written.
Remember, just because you are not impressed with a company and its API does not make it any less of a company:

So, let's make this the last post on the API issue. You seem to think it matters, I don't. I think NRI is more than the API, you think that they are one in the same. Nothing personal, let's just agree to disagree. I think DL said it best when he said that the API thing is not an issue. I agree. Of course that happens when you are lashed to the mast..
