re:TAX on internet: U.S. Senate Minority Leader Thomas Daschle late Monday named the
heads of three technology industry giants to a blue ribbon-panel
examining how to tax Internet commerce. Appointed by the South
Dakota Democrat were Michael Armstrong, chairman of AT&T CORP;
Larry Carter, president of CISCO SYSTEMS; and Ted Waite, chairman of
GATEWAY 2000. They are the final three appointees to the 19-member
Advisory Commission on Electronic Commerce, which was authorized
by the U.S. Congress in mid-October when it cleared the Internet Tax
Freedom Act.
