Cash... You have to set up shorting in your account before you can short. You can use the value of some of your holdings to play shorting games with. And yes. You can use a discount broker. I was thinking that a lot of the selling today might've been shorters. If it was and the next news is bad (Hope it's not!) they'll make out real well. JL
