Workers at a Viagra factory have won a rise - for pledging extra productivity.

The 150 employees at the Pfizer pharmaceutical company in Sydney will get a 20 per cent pay increase, plus a big holiday bonus, under an enterprise agreement aimed at meeting demand for the new virility drug.

Union organiser Hugh McDermott said: "It's a standing joke on the site that Viagra has given them a good rise."

The agreement allows for increased flexibility in work hours and reduced demarcation between workers.

The two-year agreement will allow the company to mass-produce Viagra at its West Ryde plant.

The virility drug, though officially obtainable only by prescription, is widely available in Australia.

The blue, diamond-shaped tablet has taken Australia by storm since it was introduced a few months ago, making it hard for the company to keep up with demand.
