MG, Re: Death and Taxes

The finance minister to Louis XIV stated: The art of taxation can be likened to plucking a goose; the idea is to get the most amount of feathers with the least amount of squawking. Sorry to hear about your problem. Unfortunately, I don't share it!

I am really entertained by the concept of using covered puts in a stock that I believe is in a break out. I am equally entertained by your concept of using covered calls as an exit strategy. I am also entertained by the concept of using covered calls in lieu of fixed income investments.

Nonetheless, I cannot see the purpose in writing covered calls at a stock's market top (presumed). What do I gain if I watch my stock go down? Looking forward to hearing your view (and others) on the issue.
