Wow! Thanks for the great chart. My general impression that the S&P500 is hard to beat sure is confirmed by your data, especially if you look at the last 4 years. Since there are years when it is easy to beat it begs the question if after 4 big year this index is due to cool off relative to the rest of the market. That is a very important question to which I don't have an answer. I am going to continue to invest (short or long) in the stocks of the S&P500 primarily via the SPY's and not through individual stocks. I will play the rest of the market through individual stocks.
