Trader J,
This is my first post on your thread. Let me quickly say that I like the way you've outlined your thread and agree with many of the guidelines you've established. I've been a member of SI for a couple of weeks and have been looking for a place thats serious about making money. Too many threads are long on noise and short on substance. So I hope you don't mind me sharing some of my ideas here.
First of all let me share with you my style of trading. I've been actively trading the markets for the past six years. Over that time I've become strictly a technical trader. All of my decisions are based off what I see on the chart. I discovered some time ago that the most profitable trades of all are those in companies that have seriously depressed stock prices, where the insiders in the Co. are buying shares. But because insiders are usually early in their purchases, I combine this with technical analysis so that I'm buying as close to the bottom as possible. The stocks that I focus on offer tremendous leverage because of their prices. Most of my picks will have insider trading, however, I often trade in stocks with no buying at all. It all depends on how compelling the chart looks. It is also my goal to get in early just before the stocks takes off. This allows me to establish a decent position in a stock as well as the opportunity to set MY price, not the MM doing that for me. My timeframe on each trade may vary depending on how quickly each stock moves, or by my upside target being hit. Here are a few examples:
ACLR - Insiders bought 100,000 shares in 8/98 between $1.2-2.0. The stock is in the process of bottoming, the breakout is close at hand.
LCAV - +47,000 shares $1.3 9/98
POSO - +25,000 shares $1.3-2.5, 10/98 and +26,000 shares $4-8.0 4/98
CBST - +70,000 shares $2.25-2.6 10/98
These stocks are at critical points on their charts and have not broken out yet so watch how the process of backing and filling takes place.
I hope some of my ideas make sense and look forward to hearing ideas from many of you.
Good luck trading.
