According to the newest issue of Infoword (Dec. 7, 1998):

There will be 46.8 million homes that use cable modems by 2007.

Cable modem shipments will amount to 79% of the world's high-speed access market by the end of the year.

Dataquest study anticipates 492,000 unit shipment of cable modem in 1998, in contrast to unit shipment of 214,000 last year.

In 2002, cable modem shipment will top 2.4 million units with half of the shipments in North America.

Issues over standards have been largely resolved, and so cable modem shipments are expected to jump during the first quarter of 1999.
