theregister.co.uk Which says: ------------------------------------------------------ It's also not the sort of deal you'd expect Qualcomm, Microsoft's partner in the WirelessKnowledge joint venture, to sign. Qualcomm has been raising merry hell over IP relevant to G3 wireless systems, and isn't about to give anything away there. But Qualcomm is a Bluetooth member, so it signed.
InfoWorld's sources claim Microsoft and "current members who did not read the fine print" are concerned about the IP pooling arrangements, and the thought of the ordinarily truculent Qualcomm screwing up in this way is certainly chucklesome. Has its new friend just discovered it's given away Manhattan for a bunch of beads? --------------------------------------------------------------- Hang on a minute here. We, The Smart Money, do the chuckling around here! And just what do they mean "...given away Manhattan for a bunch of beads?" Do they mean me? Now THIS is paranoia. Didn't we read the fine print, or do they mean Microsoft?

***OT Sliminess*** Ooops, I hope not to be sued for forgetting the hagfish, an absurdly slimy, bottom feeding scavenger eel-like fish kind of thing which is as disgusting as just about anything on the planet. Luckily it hides where we can't see it. Sort of like a mobile leech, but with teeth, a half metre or more long body and without the redeeming merits of being more like a moving dead leaf and serving useful medical purposes, by stopping blood clotting and sucking blood which enables oxygen to be moved through re-attached tissue such as lips, fingers, noses, ears and, well, I suppose, Bobbits.
Apparently hagfish produce such a vast slime effect that the water around them actually congeals. They tie themselves in a knot and slide the knot down their body to remove the slime after the danger has passed. Maybe that is more like L M Ericsson. I'll sleep on it and see if the analogy fits in my dreams.
