Record-Breaking Traffic and Initiated Orders on computershopper.com
NEW YORK, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- computershopper.com, the e-commerce channel of Ziff-Davis' (NYSE: ZD) ZDNet web site, experienced a significant spike in sales in November, in line with expectations for the busiest online holiday shopping season to date. The site had its busiest shopping day ever on November 30, 1998, generating $1.3 million in initiated orders in one day. Traffic to the site reached new heights as well, with impressions up 25% over the average daily November traffic.
On the whole, the holiday shopping season started early on computershopper.com. Initiated orders for November totaled over $27 million, a 7% increase over October's totals. As expected, orders are significantly up over last holiday season -- over 203% more than the initiated order dollars from November 1997. November traffic also broke all previously held records for the site, with impressions up 143% from the same time last year. "This is a testimonial to the power of today's Internet economy," says Al DiGuido, Executive Vice President and Group Publisher of Computer Shopper in all its platforms. "People are shopping online this holiday season -- more than they ever have before. And computershopper.com provides them with an environment in which they can search, compare and buy from the widest selection of vendors and products in the business."
computershopper.com provides up-to-the-minute reporting on which products are generating the most buying interest, enabling advertisers to market the products that are hot this year. November's top products on computershopper.com included the Sony Electronics PCV-E201 desktop system, the NEC Computer Systems Direction SPL 300 desktop system, the Sony Electronics Digital Mavica MVC-FD7 camera and the 3Com Palm III. "There's no doubt that buyers are purchasing high-end products online this holiday season. We expect to see this continue through the end of December," concludes DiGuido.
