I am new to TCBG but I agree with you that this is HUGE. The
way I see it the children beverage market is very large and
getting bigger every day. Carpi-sun had a monopoly on the pouch
drinks, everybody else had to use the Boxes. The boxes are o.k.
but you cannot freeze them, and they cost more per item when you
buy them. I only know this because I buy them for my kids. The
capri-suns you get more items for the same price, the problem
that I have with these are when you freeze them they don't thaw
out in time for my kids lunch. But Now the school doesn't want
kids to bring capri-suns to school anymore, because the kids have
a problem with inserting the straws into the pouch, and the teachers
don't have time to help all the kids with the drinks,so you can
see they were very popular. But now everyone brings boxes.
So Now steps in TCBG. The only other company allowed to sell pouches.
I don't see them as a drink company, instead I see them as a Pouch
company. TCBG can liscence or sell their pouches to anyone that needs
or wants to compete with the capi-suns brand. As you can see already
everybody wants to compete with the leader.Companies like Wal-Mart and
Winn Dixie will make more from selling their brands than they will
make from selling Capri brand. Also TCBG has the more child friendly
pouch,with the built in straw. So as a parent I am happy. The only
thing better than a monopoly is a duo-opoly. I wouldn't be suprised
to see Capri-suns coming to TCBG to use their pouches in the future.
The problem I see with TCBG is that they may not be able to manufacture enough pouches to keep up with supply, and that can be
harmful to a company.
I do have one question though, If someone would be able to tell me
the profit margin per pouch? I think I read 16cents a few notes back
but that seems high to me. I will also try to check with the company.
