adding 10 more zinc-air-battery-powered electric vehicles (EVs) to Edison's test fleet.
12/08/1998 - Electric Fuel, Edison SpA to Add 10 More Test EVs New York City - Zinc-air battery-maker Electric Fuel Corp. and its strategic partner Edison SpA in Italy announced today they will be adding 10 more zinc-air-battery-powered electric vehicles (EVs) to Edison's test fleet. Over the past few months, an Edison Fiat Ducato van powered by Electric Fuel's battery system has been in service at the Polyclinic hospital in Milan, Italy, distributing cargo from its central pharmacy. The 10 new vehicles will be operated in Torino and carry both passengers and cargo as part of an Italian Research Ministry-funded demonstration project. An existing zinc-air battery regeneration plant located near Torino will be expanded to triple its capacity. The plant and new EVs are expected to be operational by fall 1999. Electric Fuel's battery system will also be used in buses in Las Vegas (News Notes 11/3/98). Edison SpA, Italy's largest private energy producer, has licensed Electric Fuel's technology for Italy, France, Spain and Portugal.
BAT was once involved in zinc-air battery powered vehicles, now they are reduced to peddling second hand snake oil. Is this fraud or bad management? It looks like a pattern to me. Announce contract, put out lots of press releases, sell some stock then move on to the next hype. Of course BAT never put out a press release informing investors that they were no longer involved with Kummerow zinc-air batteries. He just went and found someone else to build his cars. BAT press releases also never mentioned that they weren't in the postal contract either. Now the web of lies seems to be collapsing. Stockholders will want to know why Joe "walked away" from a 2 million dollar contract with 80% margins. (I'll ask at the Feb meeting) Some will probably want to know why zinc-air battery vehicles are working successfully everywhere but at BAT. No pulsecharging licenses, no Skoda, no Ford Contour, can't see any giant cash registers, everyone is seeing red over green fuel. Batlube sales are a major disappointment and BAT is really up the creek because they still have to sell $100,000 in BATLUBE before they release financials cause they already put out a press release stating they sold it. Then there's the mystery cars from Mexico. Why did BAT Barbados cancel the 55 car order after only one car was built? |
