Valueman -

1) Will my GSM equipment exist as a separate system with W-CDMA alongside?

Yes and no. Since they both share the same core they will probably share Basestation Controllers and other networking equipment. But the WCDMA air interface equipment will exist separately from the GSM equipment.

2)Will my GSM infrastructure exist merely to serve my current subs, or will it seamlessly integrate with W-CDMA?

See answer 1.

3) Will my GSM phone work on a W-CDMA system?

No.

Note that the answers to the equivalent questions for CDMAOne and CDMA2000 is much more palatable to those having CDMAOne systems.
