Consolidation to take place in the Networking arena as the idea of "bigger is better" takes a grip on multi-national companies hoping to compete in the global marketplace.
Lucent, Northern Telecom, Intel and Siemens cited as companies looking for acquisitions according to December issue of "Networking" magazine.

Ascend Communications, Newbridge Networks and 3Com indicated as targets.

"3Com is an extremely attractive target at current prices. With orders for PC's growing at an excess of 10% annually and the boom in the internet multiplying 100-fold each year, users just have to buy a modem to connect to the internet...and who better to serve them than good old U.S Robotics. Intel will most likely benefit from acquiring 3Com. 3Com will most likely sell for between $62/share - $72/share".

Newbridge Networks is an equally good candidate given the value of the low Canadian dollar and recent mega-projects awarded to the company.
