John,

As I recall Westinghouse-CBS is in a partnership that developed HDTV.
It is part of their technological heritage- remember they had a unit involved in electronics, etc.?

I don't recall the corporate entity. However, if they have a stake in the actual nuts and bolts technology that provides HDTV, this should be very interesting given the fact that Tim -Warner will soon be providing the service to all cable subscribers.

Somebody has to pay something for this technology. Its the next stage
and when it hits, the numbers will be huge.

Does anybody else recall the role CBS or Westinghouse has in developing this technology? I could be mistaken , but I definitely recall articles pertaining to this about six months ago. The funny thing is, they were saying the technology was great, but broadcasters would be a long time getting the audience hook up.

How wrong they were. This deal is fantastic. It gives CBS a technological edge in the media and a base in a huge cable hook up.
It's really fantastic, but the street seems to be snoozing on this one. Also, all the nay saying about the NHL numbers could turn into a real bad call by the analysts. CBS could pull a rabbit out of the hat.

I'm not a football fan, but I'd love to see a NHL game in HDTV, strictly to see the latest in technology. Once it hits you know people will want it- HDTV.

Anybody else see those articles about CBS's role in developing the technology? Does it relate to dollars for technological development or only dollars for program advertising?

Thanks for any help,
Lawrence
