Trader J,

Another area that is quite lucrative is finding nice fundamental stocks that move in a fairly wide range intraday. This movement should be on a relative predictable scale and not be based on take-out rumours (Cien), IPO (DBCC) or other random talk.

These should be good plays for the days when nothing else is available. I have always liked stock in the $15-20 range as they seem to move the greatest as most traders can buy 1000 share blocks so they do move. Probably need more than 750K average volume at least.

CPQ, before its recent runup, had a slow, predictable movement everyday. Not much range but at the end of the day it had moved $.75-1. By staying intraday we don't get blindsided as PAIR this week on an early warning or downgrade.
