No, as you say, he didn't want to be faced with the possibility of being hauled into civil court again. Faced with what he KNEW to be the LIKLIHOOD. That he negotiated with her originally is a CLEAR sign that he knew she had the goods on him. If he'd never met her- she COULD NOT have brought forth the witnesses-policemen, et al. If he were innocent he should never negotiate nor pay a penny. If he IS(hahaha)innocent, then he has done a great disservice by willingly negotiating and paying off a Blackmailer- and he sought that end BEFORE the case was dismissed. If innocent, no president including Clinton should or would set the precedent of paying off a liar. This would be a dangerous precedent, if not for his obvious lack of innocence and clear evidence that he and Jones met- his lack of memory to the contrary. The average person who might want to bring a suit against a President for the bucks would have a hard time creating evidence out of whole cloth that would stand up in court for even a moment- not so here- he had to BELIEVE the case would be reinstated on REAL evidence, or he should not have paid a penny- for the sake of the presidency! So do you think she lies? What is it?- I know, you think he DID get a bj from Jones, don't you?
