Online Brokers:
My experience has been with DLJ Direct and Waterhouse.

DLJ: They charge $20 per trade and have a really fast, well-run website. When you've bought or sold, you get an immediate on-line confirm. The help via telephone I found to be very brusque, borderline rude. To be clear, though, this was my first experience with an online discount broker and, as a newbie, I felt I needed more help than they were willing to provide.

So I switched to:

Waterhouse: They charge $12 per trade. They have a torturously slow website that has tended to go down at peak trading times. By this I mean that there are times during the trading say that I cannot access real time quotes nor get confirmation of trades for 5-10 minutes at a time. The up side is that when you get an account at Waterhouse, you get a personal broker at a local office (there's one here in my part of Ct.) who you can call if the website is down of if you need to ask a question about how to place a trade. I'm going to stay with them because of the personalized service and the lower trading fee.

BUT! There are other online brokers out there who I know nothing about. Anyone else want to share their experiences?
