Well, depending on the situation...

share holder value as reflected by the stock price may have very little to do with the ability of the company to survive.

For instance, if a substantial contract was signed it would significantly improve the survivability of the company, but if it is not announced (or otherwise made public) it may have little effect on the stock price.

Fortunately for us the shareholders, there are a great many reasons to place information in the public domain and to try and take care of the stock price in one way or another. And I certainly agree... it very much is more than a moral issue. It most emphatically is a business issue.

BTW, I understand that though they have not hired a CFO, the responsibilities are being taken care of via another means... I don't recall exactly what that was... Maybe somebody else can remember and post it...
