Hi All
It seems like Cisco are now attempting to backtrack to some degree. Here's a cut'n'paste from an email I received earlier from our Redmond friends. quote>> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CISCO REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO MICROSOFT'S ACTIVE DIRECTORY microsoft.com Cisco Systems continues its joint development relationship with Microsoft and its commitment to Active Directory as its core directory service. Cisco is also working to deliver enhanced directory-enabled networking solutions on Active Directory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- <<unquote

Looks like a bit of 'we've dumped on you, but we haven't really dumped on you at all' from Cisco. They're still friends, seemingly, despite what common customers demand from CSCO and NOVL. This is starting to look a wee bit short-sighted of CSCO. AD and Win2000 are still a long way off, and losing credibility each and every day. Reaffirming your commitment to a non-shipping product when NDS goes from strength to strength eats into CSCOs bottom line. Hopefully they'll commit properly next year, after Win2000 suffers from it's last (and probably terminal) release date slip. Then again, maybe they won't but they've only got one way to go, while their competition go off and do other things, most probably with Novell, Java and Linux - the new forces in the industry.
Regards
Peter
PS to any and all techies out there. I recently went on site and saw what I think is some sort of record. A NetWare 3.x server that hadn't been touched for over 1000 days, just under 3 years! It turned out that the customers problems were to do with lack of ventilation, I'm afraid to say I had to restart the server to assure myself that all was well with the hardware. Can anyone beat 1000 days of a PC server running without a restart? (The winner will either be NetWare, Linux or FreeBSD, I'll bet). For the NT users out there, can you reach 1000 hours? - you might win something too (but not from me) :-)
Thanks
