Here's some bad (or good?) news for the overall esl industry. This site is run by Longo's, a significant independent in LoblawLand. grocerygateway.com They seem to be competitively priced and charge $6 for delivery. Take a look, there store is very well laid out. Removing the necessity to drive to the store is bad news. If the introduction of a new innovative mode of competitive pricing drives dominant stores back into considering the technology, it may be good news. Who knows? I still care though! On the A&P front, I remember reading during the recent rash of Cdn. Grocery Wars that someone (journalist, analyst or grand mother) was speculating that Safeway may be going to take over A&P's Cdn. stores. That may be in line with A&P's new focus. Another good or bad development? We live in fluid and illiquid (tax loss selling) times. I trust the TLS engineer(s) are on overtime watch during and beyond this holiday season. If they have yet to demonstrate that they are made of the "right stuff" Mr. Skillen should consider sending them to The Viterbi School of Communications, el pronto. That may be our only hope. ps If the engineer(s) deliver, they will be the one's who deserve stock options. Saving everyone's butt, it is only fair!
