Shares of National Media Corp. soared in heavy trade amid excitement that the company could soon sell its Internet unit to the public.

Shares of the Everything For Less Catalog Website rose in speculation that a spin off could soon be announced.

Traders may have speculated that the company might file terms with the SEC for the offering.

''What's happening to the Internet is that anyone who has an Internet business has a fiduciary duty to spin it off to a general public,'' said one over-the-counter trader. ''

National Media is one of those wild stocks that could get caught up in the frenzy.
