NEWS EXPECTED 1/22/97... I've been invited to an announcement meeting for Sun's new ~ Firestar server. Details are sketchy but the system is said to have a 600MB/second throughput capability, 12.5 GB/sec backplane, and can be segmented into separate processor systems. Also, Cray apparently had an involvement in the design. This will be a very hot server engine that will place SUN in the "driver's seat" in high end UNIX computing. The announcement meeting is 1/22/97 at 1pm ET. Anybody have more info on this device/announcement?
