SAP is a complicated and large software ERP package. Most all large corps like FEDEX, AMEX, GM, FORD, TATA, Siemens etc. around the world are using SAP or similar software.
The problem most of them come across is PROPER installation and implementation after they spend millions for SAP. That is where all the CONSULTANTS come in.
Typically they will contract the work out to one of the big 6 accounting firsm like Price-Waterhouse, DeLoitte Touche etc. These firms hire the consultants and take on complete project responsibility.
The cost of getteing trained in SAP is quite high. SAP has 2 training centers in San Francisco and Boston with a cost of about $12000 for training on one module. Once you have trainign you can get a JOB with someone as a junior. When you have 1 successful installation under your belt, you can go out and become a consultant demanding $100 per hour. After 3 successful installations you can ask for $250 per hour. Each installation will range from 6 to 9 months depending on complexity.
You dont need any programming experience. Accountants, business management graduates are well suited for this type of work. If you have the time and money to get trained, then this will be good training to have. Depending on your education and experience you may also try ot get a job wher they offer you training. Other softwrae packages are PEOPLESOFT, BAAN, ORCLE.
