Greg,
Got a nice e-mail from QDEL today in response to my congratulatory note on the P+G coup. They said they thought thisd was a much more effective way to get ther message out on their test to the correct audience, rather than direct mailing, journal ads, etc-also told no $ is changing hands- simply free tests from QDEL to P+G to distribute and "promote" along w/ Helidac- advised that all sales were through Qdel's regular distributors- finally, I was advised that P+G sales force would be visiting approximately 43,000 physicians, each one of whom is a potential customer for QuickVue test. Not sure of the cost to QDEL of furnishing the free samples, but even if it is $10/per test (the release says the test will cost drs $20) I suspect that the benefits of this deal will far outweigh the costs. I'll keep you posted.
