Got a Cheerokee as well. 1988 with 179,000 miles. From 90,000 to 115,000 miles I would have sold it for a song but since then its been reliable. Couple of clutches, water pump, altinator and the pinion gear broke in the rear end. What someone told me is the bearing probably failed, heated the pinion gear up.... then snap. Went to a junk yard and bought the whole rear end for $250.00 and was back in business. The paint faided (gray metalic) and had the 'top' half painted. Looking to trip 200,000 miles!!!!!
